esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Kentaro Miura created his first manga, Miuranger, at age 10, drawing the series for an audience of his classmates; by high school he had moved into Japan’s dynamic self-publishing (doujinshi) scene. Futanabi, a manga Miura had submitted for admission to art school, was nominated for Best New Author Work in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine (today the home of Blue Lock and Rent-A-Girlfriend). In 1989, Miura began the dark fantasy manga series Berserk, his life’s work, with the Japanese publisher Hakusensha. Adapted into three anime TV series and a series of films, Berserk has sold approximately 70 million copies worldwide. Miura-sensei passed away suddenly in 2021 at the age of 54, leaving a legacy of epic storytelling, and a readership that only continues to grow.Studio Gaga is the team of assistants with whom Kentaro Miura worked to create Berserk; the studio currently consists of Kurosaki, Akio Miyaji, Nobuhiro Hirai, Naohide Nagashima, Hideaki Sugimoto, Shunki Fujimoto, and Takumi Yamamoto. With the passing of Miura-sensei in 2021, Studio Gaga is carrying on the story and art of the Berserk saga under the supervision of Kouji Mori. In a 2023 interview with major Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun, Mori remarked that while he gives advice on drafts during the process of making Berserk, the final drawings are the work of Studio Gaga. “Kurosaki, the chief of Studio Gaga, has extraordinary drawing skill, as does the rest of their staff. I believe that after they complete Berserk, they will become famous in the manga world.”Kouji Mori was best friends and an artistic collaborator with Kentaro Miura since they met at age 15 as aspiring manga creators; in high school the pair even attempted to break into the industry together, with a co-authored manga submitted to Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. Mori’s first major manga work made its debut in 2000, the 18-volume Holyland, later adapted into live-action TV shows in both Japan and Korea. In a 2016 interview published by Crunchyroll, Miura commented that the Guts/Griffith dynamic of Berserk was inspired by his relationship with Mori, “but sometimes I would be Guts, and sometimes I would be Griffith.” Following Miura’s passing in 2021, Mori remarked to The Asahi Shimbun that he would supervise the continuation of Berserk based upon his remembered conversations with Miura on his plans for the manga’s future direction: “I tried to recall every detail to tell the story. And I am only doing episodes Miura told me about. In terms of dialogue, I am only telling the story as Miura related it to me. Naturally, it will be incomplete. But I think I can tell the story almost in the way that Miura wanted.”

Stan Lee is a man who needs no introduction. Nevertheless: Having begun his career with wartime Timely Comics and staying the course throughout the Atlas era, Stan the Man made comic-book history with Fantastic Four #1, harbinger of a bold new perspective in story writing that endures to this day. With some of the industry’s greatest artists, he introduced hero after hero in Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men and more — forming a shared universe for rival publishers to measure themselves against. After an almost literal lifetime of writing and editing, Lee entered new entertainment fields and earned Marvel one opportunity after another. He remains one of Marvel’s best-known public representatives.Jack "King" Kirby's comics career began in 1937 and continued for nearly six decades. With partner Joe Simon, Kirby first made his mark in comics in the 1940s by drawing and/or creating numerous features for DC Comics including SANDMAN, THE NEWSBOY LEGION and MANHUNTER, and for Marvel including CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE YOUNG ALLIES and the KID COMMANDOS. As the most valued team in comics, Simon and Kirby went on to create titles and concepts including FIGHTING AMERICAN, BOYS' RANCH and the creation of the romance comics genre. In 1961, the first issue of Marvel's FANTASTIC FOUR cemented Kirby's reputation as comics' preeminent creator, and a slew of famous titles followed that elevated him to legendary status, including INCREDIBLE HULK, AVENGERS and X-MEN. Kirby returned to DC in 1971 with his classic FOURTH WORLD TRILOGY, which was followed by THE DEMON and KAMANDI. Kirby continued working and innovating in comics until his death in 1994.Industry legend Chris Claremont is best known for his epic sixteen-year run on Uncanny X-Men. Claremont’s focus on the themes of prejudice and tolerance struck at the hearts of comics fans, and he built an unparalleled following during the next three decades. Under his pen, the X-Men franchise spawned a vast array of spin-offs, many of them written by Claremont himself. His other credits include Iron Fist, Ms. Marvel, Power Man and Spider-Woman. Claremont has returned to the X-Men universe in New Exiles, GeNext, X-Men Forever, Chaos War: X-Men and Nightcrawler.John Byrne has worked continuously in the comics industry as both writer and artist since 1975. After he initially collaborated with writer Chris Claremont on Iron Fist, Byrne and Claremont moved on to X-Men for a run still regarded as one of the title’s finest. Byrne contributed an equally famed stint on Fantastic Four, earning comparisons to the original Lee/Kirby issues for his imaginative plotlines and dynamic artwork. He also spun Alpha Flight into its own title. In 1986, he revamped DC’s flagship hero, Superman, reimagining the Man of Steel in a historic project heralded by a Time magazine cover. His remarkable contribution to the Marvel Universe extends to memorable associations with virtually every major hero, including celebrated runs on Captain America, Iron Man, Sensational She-Hulk, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Thing. In the 21st century, Byrne’s considerable body of work includes IDW’s Star Trek and Angel.Dave Cockrum was an American comics artist known for his co-creation of the new X-Men characters Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, and Mystique, as well as the antiheroine Black Cat. Cockrum was a prolific and inventive costume designer who updated the uniforms of the Legion of Super-Heroes and the X-Men. He rejuvenated iconic superheroes with striking costumes, featuring wide shoulder lapels, big belts, and buccaneer boots. His designs persisted well in the 1980s and the influence of his aesthetics can still be felt today.Comic book illustrator Jim Lee is the editorial director of WildStorm Studios (which he founded in 1992) and the artist for many of DC Comics’ bestselling comic book and graphic novels, including All Star Batman and Robin, Batman: Hush, and Superman: For Tomorrow. He also serves as the creative director for the upcoming DC Universe Online videogame. Prior to DC, he was one of the founding fathers of Image Comics and best known for his run on the X-Men for Marvel Comics during which he co-created such characters as Gambit and Agent Zero. In his spare time, Jim enjoys a good laugh or two.John Lind is a designer, editor, and co-founder of the Dark Horse Comics imprint Kitchen Sink Books (with Denis Kitchen). Specializing in print design with a client list that includes projects for Abrams, Bloomsbury, Chronicle Books, Disney, Hyperion Books, Simon & Schuster, and W.W. Norton in addition to numerous publishers in the comic industry.

Steve Parkhouse - was born and raised in postwar London, amidst chaos, poverty, and a singular lack of comics. This dire situation was remedied when some Scottish friends of his father began sending weekly relief packages of comics published by D.C. Thompson, the premier British publishers of the day. Needless to say, they were devoured avidly until he discovered American comics on spinners in the gift shops of various holiday resorts. Steve then began to attempt his own comics style of drawing and writing, eventually being accepted ona graphic design course at his local polytechnic. There he met fellow aspirant Barry (Winsor) Smith and they began hatching a cunning plan.It was simple, they decided; we'll go to New York and get work at Marvel Comics. What could possibly g wrong? Eighteen months later, at the age of eighteen and nineteen respectively, they were both working in the Marvel Bullpen in New York, getting the lie of the land and learning the trade from experts. Then U.S. Immigration decided thiswas a bad plan, and asked them (not too politely) to get the hell out. Nothing's changed much, has it? So, after ducking and diving and hiding in various apartments all over the city, the adventurers voluntarily deported themselves back to Britain, with six months of working experience to fall back on. With that qualification, Steve secured an editorial post in the Juveniles Department of IPC Magazines. There he met his future wife, Annie... was promoted to staff writer and his writing career began in earnest. The rest, as they say, is a total mystery. Fifty odd years on, he is still practicing the craft of storytelling with the express intention of getting it right. He thinks that you should be the judge of his efforts. He would also like to thank Mike Richardson and everybody at Dark Horse for their continued support and all those dollars. Special thanks go to Philip Simon, a scholar, a gentleman and a fine editor.PETER HOGAN has been writing comics for over thirty years now. Notable items include Sandman spin-off stories for Vertigo, and Tom Strong and related titles for Alan Moore's America's Best Comics line. After these works, Hogan and artist Steve Parkhouse co-created Resident Alien for Dark Horse, which is now on its ninth miniseries and has been adapted into the acclaimed TV show of the same name. He may well write more comics in the future.

Richard Corben was born in Missouri and grew up in Sunflower, Kansas, a community that worked for the Sunflower Ordinance Works, an army plant that manufactured bombs in World War II.Corben drew comics all of his life. An early effort was a series of comics about the adventures of TRAIL, the family dog. Later, he created imitations of Tarzan and Brothers of the Spear. He also showed a keen interest in animation by turning many pads of paper into animated flipbooks. While attending the Kansas City Art Institute, he concentrated on basic drawing and painting, developing skills that would become vital in creating his chosen realistic style. At that time, his college offered no courses for animation, but by using his father's 8 mm movie camera, Corben nevertheless produced a 5-minute animated film highlighting the labors of Heracles as his senior project. After graduation, Corben wanted to go to New York to launch a career in comics or animation, but he was shy and timid, and put off such a drastic move. After working in construction for his father for a while, he found a local job as an artist/animator/cameraman in a Kansas City industrial film company. During this time, despite his shyness, he found a girl to marry him. After nearly ten years at the film company, Corben felt frustrated that he really hadn't given his art career a chance. He started drawing so-called "underground" comix and fanzines at night after working a full-time job during the day. About this same time, Warren Publishing Company began a series of black-and-white horror comics, CREEPY, EERIE, and VAMPIRELLA. This was a perfect match for Corben's interests, and he drew several stories for CREEPY on speculation. Unfortunately, none of these were accepted. But the "wannabe" comic book artist persisted and even met James Warren at a science fiction convention. Finally, Warren and his editor, Bill Dubay, relented and started sending Corben scripts to draw. At last, a foothold was established in his comic career. Even with the responsibilities of a wife, a daughter and a mortgage, the young artist now felt confident enough to quit his full-time job at the industrial film company and devote all his time to drawing. The underground comix surge spread to Europe, and requests to reprint Corben underground features began to appear. His fantasy character, DEN, was created for the American underground comic, GRIM WIT; DEN was next printed in the French METAL HURLANT, and then printed in the American HEAVY METAL. During this era, Richard and Dona started FANTAGOR PRESS, a publishing company featuring Richard's comics. Unfortunately, the business wasn't enough to support them. Next, Corben began drawing for American comics - D.C., MARVEL, DARK HORSE, and others.Corben believed that maintaining drawing skills required constant practice. He regularly attended life drawing classes all throughout his career. He found the activity both an ongoing challenge and a source of pleasure. His love and interest in animation continued throughout his lifetime and motivated him to create digitally animated movies he shared on his web site and Facebook page.Richard was married for 56 years to Dona, and is the father of watercolor artist and comic book colorist, Beth. His life and love was devoted to his family and his art. He was a humble man and an extremely kind, good man.Richard Corben died December 2, 2020.

Makoto Yukimura was born in 1976 in Yokohama, Japan, and was first inspired by the idea of drawing manga in elementary school, when he encountered Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s famous Fist of the North Star. While attending college, Yukimura learned manga technique and storytelling by working as an assistant to artist Shin Morimura, a onetime collaborator with Garon Tsuchiya (Oldboy).Planetes was Makoto Yukimura’s professional debut at age 22; before being collected to graphic novel, the story was serialized in Kodansha’s prestigious weekly manga magazine Comic Morning, also home to What’s Michael? as well as titles such as Vagabond and Drops of God. Both the manga and anime adaptation of Planetes won Japan’s Seiun Award for science fiction, a feat that had not been achieved since Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.In 2005, Yukimura began his ongoing manga epic Vinland Saga, published in English by Kodansha, which in 2009 would be awarded the Grand Prize for Manga by the Japan Media Arts Festival, an official event of the national Agency for Cultural Affairs. Vinland Saga has been adapted into a two-season anime series streaming on Amazon and Netflix, winning the 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards for Best Drama in 2020.
