esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Riad is a teenager growing up in the French region of Brittany, where he lives with his mother and brother and attends high school in Rennes. But his adolescence is anything but typical. Born to a Syrian father and a French mother, Riad spent much of his early childhood in Libya, rural Syria, and France—moving through contrasting worlds, political ideologies, and daily absurdities. Years earlier, his father—charismatic, authoritarian, and obsessed with dictators and with building a utopian Arab society—abducted Riad’s second younger brother, Fadi, and returned to Syria, leaving behind a fractured family. At 14, Riad navigates puberty, isolation, and the pressures of French society, while haunted by the absence of his father and brother, and the sadness of his mother. He turns to books, heavy metal, and drawing as refuge. The tone is darkly comic and sharply observant, capturing both the universal pains of adolescence and the surreal contradictions of the 1990s. Blending personal story and social commentary, this standalone volume offers a biting, poignant portrait of a young man coming of age in a world that feels both familiar and foreign. The End of the Arab of the Future is the first book in a two-volume series that concludes the critically acclaimed autobiographical graphic novel begun in Arab of the Future. In the third volume of the E.C. Segar Popeye Sundays, Popeye and company embark on a gothic adventure on the high seas! Volume three centers around the epic Popeye adventure, 'Plunder Island,' in which our endearing cast of characters takes to the high seas in search of buried treasure - but must contend with the ruthless Sea Hag and her strange sidekick, Alice the Goon. Steeped in shadow and gothic imagery, this tale is an atmospheric and suspenseful departure from the typical Popeye aesthetic - with a little screwball comedy thrown in for good measure. Also in this volume, Popeye proves to be a one-man wrecking crew on the gridiron, Wimpy tries his unsteady hand at duck shooting (uh-oh!), and the crew ride out to the Wild West town of Slither Creek on a rip-roaring gold-hunting expedition. Plus, contemporary Filipino cartoonist Bong Redila pens a lighthearted comic homage to the iconic, eerie duo headlining this volume. An irresistible alchemy of slapstick humor, tender romance, and rags-to-riches fantasy, Elsie Crisler Segar's newspaper comic strip, starring Popeye the sailor man, captivated readers of the Roaring Twenties and beyond. Fantagraphics is thrilled to bring Segar's whimsical world back into print, collecting the complete Popeye Sunday stories in four gorgeous full-color volumes, each packaged in a die cut slipcase. E.C. Segar (1894-1938) was an American cartoonist known for creating Popeye, the star of his comic series Thimble Theatre. Bong Redila is a Filipino American illustrator and author based in Miami, Florida. His previous book with Fantagraphics was Meläg: Town of Fables (2022). (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers are the most iconic and enduring underground comix characters ever created, having sold over 45 million comics in 16 languages. Created in 1968 by Gilbert Shelton, widely recognized as one of the funniest cartoonists who ever lived, the Freak Brothers' rollicking and hilariously self-destructive escapades are comedic masterpieces of farce and satire. Fantagraphics is proud to announce that it is collecting all their cannabis-fueled adventures in a new series, Freak Brothers Follies. Each deluxe hardcover will feature a special die-cut cover. The first volume leads off with 'The Idiots Abroad,' a brilliant, novel-length tour de force of slapstick and screwball adventure, showcasing Shelton's gift for weaving together an intricate plot with droll dialogue and pitch-perfect comedic timing. Phineas, Freewheelin' Franklin, and Fat Freddy head out with high hopes for Colombia, but (as always!) their plans go awry in the most hilariously self-destructive way possible. Scattered around the world - to Scotland, Russia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East - they manage to antagonize, offend, and otherwise annoy various groups of nuclear terrorists, human traffickers, pirates, and religious fanatics. Meanwhile, Fat Freddy's Cat, abandoned at home, not only has his own fur-raising adventure, he even sells the story to Hollywood! The Freak Brothers, an animated series, set in modern-day San Francisco, is scheduled for release in 2021. The show stars the voices of Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels Annullato/esaurito

edited by Blake Bell 7.25 x 9.5, HC, 224 pages, FULL COLOR, $39.99 ISBN 978-1-60699-289-0 OVER 200 PAGES OF VINTAGE, PRE-SPIDER-MAN, PRECOMICS CODE HORROR COMICS FROM STEVE DITKO Before the Amazing Spider-Man, before the mysterious Dr. Strange, before the black-and-white world of the Ayn Rand-inspired Mr. A, the legendary comic book artist Steve Ditko was conjuring all manners of horrors at his drawing table. In his first two years in the industry (1953 and 1954), Ditko drew tales of macabre suspense that were not yet hobbled by the imminent Comics Code Authority (adopted in Oct. 1954). These stories featured graphic bloodshed, dismemberment and blood-curdling acid baths as the ugly end to the lives of the dark and twisted inhabitants of Steve Ditko's imagination. Following up on strange and stranger: The World of steve ditko, Blake Bell's 2008 best-selling critical retrospective of Ditko's career, strange suspense: The steve ditko Archives Vol. 1 will, for the first time, feature spectacular full-color reprints of every story from those first two years of his career. Beginning with Ditko's very first story to Ditko's short stint in the Joe Simon/Jack Kirby studio, to Ditko's eventual encampment at the Charlton Comics operation in 1954, readers will see the initial works of an artist already at a level of craftsmanship that exceeded most of his peers. The book will also feature editor Bell's insightful historical notes, as well as a series of short essays by some of the comic book industry giants - Daniel Clowes, Gilbert Hernandez, etc. - who will speak to Ditko's influence and his unique craft. The definitive collection of comics and illustration from 1892 to 1942 by James Swinnerton, one of the founding fathers of the American comic strip. James Swinnerton is one of the most creative, respected, and prolific comic artists from the first half of the 20th century. Yet to the disappointment of classic comics lovers, his work has seen little reproduction. Until now. This sumptuous volume covers Swinnerton's six-decade career in comics, from his beginnings as a sports/editorial cartoonist for William Randolph Hearst in San Francisco to his years in the America's Southwest desert, where his love for the land and its people came through in his comics and illustration. Swinnerton is an excellent storyteller offering a cinematic style with humor that is both slapstick and sophisticated. At the forefront is his long-running Little Jimmy comic strip. This namesake character began by mixing satire of New York society with stories of rural America. He then took the characters on the road to South America, Mexico, and then settling for many years in Swinnerton's beloved Southwest. Also included in this book are his early one-shots and series like the rakish Mr. Jack and the anthropomorphic Mt. Ararat, and his 1940s stylized comic of the modern West, Rocky Mason. Swinnerton was famous for more than just comics. He wrote and illustrated the charming feature 'The Canyon Kiddies' and similar titles for weekly magazines. In his later years he became known as a premier painter of desert landscapes. All of these are featured in this book. Jimmy! includes an illustrated biography and essays by co-editor Michael Tisserand and Eddie Campbell. The comic strips in this volume are carefully restored to their original colors and printed at near-full size. Swinnerton lovers will be delighted by the richness and variety of the works seen here. Those new to this uniquely American artist will likely join the growing numbers who appreciate his important role in the history of the comics. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
