esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
From Fantagraphics Books. In the latest volume of the acclaimed series about transgendered kids exploring their unfolding identities, we've reached a big event; the junior high school entrance ceremony. The boys wear black uniforms with stand-up collars based on mid-19th century European military uniforms and the girls wear navy blazers, tan skirts, and red ribbon neckties. Enter our heroes; Nitori-kun is forced to wear a boy's uniform while Takatsuki-san has to wear a girl's! Yet one girl, 'Sarashia Chizuru', draws stares, whispers, and pointed fingers, because this long-haired beauty is wearing a boy's uniform. Both Nitori-kun and Takatsuki-san are awed by the girl's courage, but Takatsuki-san is particularly vexed by their own faintheartedness. They envy more than a few other students who experience such liberty in wearing either uniform and ponder what it ultimately means about themselves. Envy and jealousy are prominent themes in Volume 5: Chiba-san is jealous of Takatsuki-san, for whom Nitori-kun still carries a torch. Maho envies Anna-chan's professionalism as a model. And Chii-chan's loyal sidekick, Shiri Momoko, is intensely jealous of anyone in whom Chii-chan shows the slightest interest. And so our protagonists set off on the journey to adolescence. GENDER-BENDING ROMEO AND JULIET, AND THE LIMITS OF 'PASSING' Shimura Takako's sensitive and charming series about two middle schoolers wrestling with their gender identities continues, with more role-reversal play fun this time around. The success of their performance of The Rose of Versailles in the fifth grade - in which the boys played the women and the girls played the men - inspires our protagonists to put on another gender-bending play for the junior-high school festival. This time they do a riff on Romeo and Juliet, with generous helpings of fantasy and mystery. Nitori-kun and Chiba-san write the script together, but Chiba-san has an agenda: She wants to play Romeo, with Nitori-kun in the role of Juliet. But Nitori-kun wants Takatsuki-san to play Romeo... With her usual prickliness, Chiba-san forces Nitori-kun to confront a question he's been avoiding. Are his feelings for Takatsuki-san those of a boy for a girl, a girl for a girl, or a girl for a boy? But you know what they say of the best laid plans of mice and men: The cast is to be decided by fate, with names drawn randomly. Meanwhile, Maho plans a trip to the beach with her boyfriend, but her parents send Nitori-kun along as an unwillingly chaperone. Faced with unwanted changes to their growing bodies, Takatsuki-san discovers the wonders of 'breast binders,' and Nitori-kun explores the limits of his ability to 'pass.' The first book in Fantagraphics' new Atlas Artist Edition series collects the best work of Marvel's top artist of the 1950s in a lush, lavish, full-color, oversize collector's volume, scanned directly from the original printings and meticulously restored and presented in a wealth of detail never seen before. Joe Maneely was known for his draftsmanship, his versatility, and his speed. He could draw horror, science fiction, war, crime, Madstyle humor, Westerns, and funny animals with equal dexterity. His tactile, chiaroscuro graphic approach to storytelling has made him a legend among the comics cognoscenti, but because he never drew superheroes and his life ended tragically at age 32, he has never been given the attention his short but incandescent career deserves. Until now. As Geoffrey C. Ward wrote in American Heritage, 'Maneely's knowledge of 19th century artifacts was encyclopedic, his rumpled, unshaven cowboys all wore the right hats, swung the right lariats, sat in the right saddles, fired the right model Colts - with every screwhead and trigger guard and notched handle precisely rendered.' And that's only his Westerns. That tightly focused attention to detail pervades his work in every genre. The Atlas Artist Edition Vol. 1: Joe Maneely, presents a cornucopia of Maneely's work for Marvel (then called Atlas) including Westerns (Kid Colt, Black Rider, Ringo Kid, Wyatt Earp, Two-Gun Kid), pre-Code horror ('Haunted!', 'The Raving Maniac', and the classic 'Your Name Is Frankenstein'), space opera (Speed Carter), war (Combat Kelly), Mad-style parodies from the pages of Crazy and Riot, cold-war intrigue and paranoia (Yellow Claw), and Maneely's pride and joy - his Arthurian champion, The Black Knight. Series editor Dr. Michael J. Vassallo provides expert contextual and historical commentary in a special essay for this volume. Dr. Michael J. Vassallo is the pre-eminent expert on the Timely/Atlas period of Marvel's history. He co-wrote The Secret History of Marvel Comics (Fantagraphics Books, 2013) and edited Atlas at War (2020) and Timely Confidential: When the Golden Age of Comic Books Was Young (2017). He has written extensively for the Marvel Masterworks series and maintains his own Timely/Atlas Comics blog. He lives in New York. (immagine) Categoria: Books: novel/sci fi/horror Annullato/esaurito

SUBURBAN HORROR DELINEATED IN A LUSH NOIR STYLE Set in a suburb that is both nowhere and everywhere, King of the Flies is a glorious bastard, combining the intricacy and subtlety of the best European graphic novels with a hyperdetailed, controlled noir style derived from the finest American cartoonists. Mezzo and Pirus, previously best known in Europe for a series of cynical, brutal gangster stories, have abandoned their guns and gals for this cycle of suburban stories, but in King of the Flies the violence has just (for the most part) been interiorized. King of the Flies first appears to be a series of unrelated short stories, each starring (and narrated by) a different protagonist, but it soon becomes obvious that these seemingly disparate episodes weave together to form a single complex narrative, with events that are only glimpsed (or even referred to) revisited from different perspectives - revolving around Eric, a ne'er-do-well, drug-taking teenager at war with his stepfather and, apparently, the whole world. (He is the titular King.) King of the Flies is designed as a trilogy of albums, which will combine to form a single graphic novel of stunning intricacy and intensity. (Vol. 2, 'The Beginning of All Things,' will be released by Fantagraphics in the Summer of 2010.) (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers are the most iconic and enduring underground comix characters ever created, having sold over 45 million comics in 16 languages. Created in 1968 by Gilbert Shelton, widely recognized as one of the funniest cartoonists who ever lived, the Freak Brothers' rollicking and hilariously self-destructive escapades are comedic masterpieces of farce and satire. Fantagraphics is proud to announce that it is collecting all their cannabis-fueled adventures in a new series, Freak Brothers Follies. Each deluxe hardcover will feature a special die-cut cover. The first volume leads off with 'The Idiots Abroad,' a brilliant, novel-length tour de force of slapstick and screwball adventure, showcasing Shelton's gift for weaving together an intricate plot with droll dialogue and pitch-perfect comedic timing. Phineas, Freewheelin' Franklin, and Fat Freddy head out with high hopes for Colombia, but (as always!) their plans go awry in the most hilariously self-destructive way possible. Scattered around the world - to Scotland, Russia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East - they manage to antagonize, offend, and otherwise annoy various groups of nuclear terrorists, human traffickers, pirates, and religious fanatics. Meanwhile, Fat Freddy's Cat, abandoned at home, not only has his own fur-raising adventure, he even sells the story to Hollywood! The Freak Brothers, an animated series, set in modern-day San Francisco, is scheduled for release in 2021. The show stars the voices of Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels Annullato/esaurito

In Part II of Guido Crepax's 'Erotic Stories,' Alain Robbe-Grillet introduces the Italian master's comics adaptation of the groundbreaking BDSM Story of O by Pauline Réage. This volume of Fantagraphics' ambitious series reprinting all of Guido Crepax's most significant comics is the second of two volumes featuring Crepax's comics adaptations from the literary erotica canon. This volume contains Crepax's longest graphic novel - 'Story of O.' A woman finds fulfillment when she subsumes her identity by sexually submitting to a secret society. Crepax sumptuously draws every strike of the whip and taps into the sensuality of body modification in his adaptation of this groundbreaking work. Also included is his short story 'Unexpected Exchange,' filled with the sensual delights you have come to expect from Crepax: lingerie, bisexuality, the 1920s, and the most symbolically drawn train you've ever seen outside of a Hitchcock film. As the Crepax Archives observes, 'The cartoonist, licensed by the authority of classics, ventures deeply into territories of eroticism that up to now he had only dared to touch.' In addition to the usual accompanying essays putting Crepax's stories into historical and cultural context, this volume also features Nouveau Roman novelist Alain Robbe-Grillet's (The Voyeur, Last Year at Marienbad) introduction to Story of O. Guido Crepax was born in Milan, Italy, in 1933. After acquiring a degree in architecture, he worked on award-winning advertising campaigns for such corporations as Shell and Dunlop. He went on to become one of Italy's most important cartoonists, most famous for his psychedelic and erotic Valentina stories. Some of her exploits were adapted into a TV series and a film. He died in 2003. Alain Robbe-Grillet (1922-2008) was an influential French writer and filmmaker associated with the Nouveau Roman movement in novels such as Le Voyeur and La Jalousie. His film collaborations, such as Last Year at Marienbad (with Alain Resnais), won prizes and Academy Award nominations. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

From their inception in 1935, comic books - starring Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel - had been primarily written for and aimed at adolescents. There were always the occasional outlier artists who pushed back against the commercial constraints of comic books and envisioned the next evolutionary artistic leap in the artform: Charles Biro was one of those artists. In 1949, the ambitious Biro - who had previously co-created the realistically brutal comic Crime Does Not Pay- edited and wrote an oversized comic aimed at adults, called Tops. Like several other radical adult comics projects that would follow, it proved to be a commercial failure and lasted only two Life magazine-sized issues. The original comics have since become a legendary holy grail among comics fans and historians, fetching as much as $6,000 on the collector's market: written about but rarely seen and never reprinted. Until now. Fantagraphics' Tops collects both issues of these oversized experimental comics in their entirety. Some of the best craftsmen working in comics at that time drew these pulpy, sexy, and melodramatic stories: Dan Barry, George Tuska, and others. It includes two stunning pre-EC crime tales illustrated by Reed Crandall, reminiscent of his Crime SuspenStories work. Actor Melvyn Douglas (believe it or not) takes the reader on a tour of utopia, entitled 'How Would You Live Under A World Government?' - a positive spin on global Socialism! A treasure trove of fascinating and revelatory comics history for scholars and fans, this compilation includes an introduction by the editor, the historian and cartoonist Michael T. Gilbert, as well as several other essays providing background on the creation of the series and the publisher, editors, and cartoonists who realized it. It includes a chronicle in essay form of experimental, adult comics endeavors throughout the first half of the 20th century. Tops is a landmark work of historical importance and a mind-boggling reading experience from a bygone era meticulously restored and reproduced in a deluxe hardcover in its originally published dimensions. Collecting issues 1-18 of the iconic Daniel Clowes comics anthology Eightball; it contains the original installments of Ghost World, the short that the film Art School Confidential was based on, and much more, newly designed for paperback by the author. The beloved comic book series Eightball made Daniel Clowes' name even before he gained fame as a bestselling graphic novelist (Ghost World, Patience, David Boring, Ice Haven) and screenwriter. From 1989 to 1997, he produced 18 issues of what is still widely considered one of the greatest and most influential comic book titles of all time. Now, Fantagraphics is collecting every single page of these long out-of-print issues in a paperback edition. It includes more than 500 pages of vintage Clowes: seminal serialized graphic novels, strips, and rants, such as 'Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron,' 'Ghost World,' 'Pussey,' 'I Hate You Deeply,' 'Sexual Frustration,' 'Ugly Girls,' 'Why I Hate Christians,' 'Message to the People of the Future,' 'Paranoid,' 'My Suicide,' 'Chicago,' 'Art School Confidential,' 'On Sports,' 'Zubrick and Pogeybait,' 'Hippypants and Peace-Bear,' 'Grip Glutz,' 'The Sensual Santa,' 'Feldman,' and many more.
