esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.

Published for the first time in English - and the first time in color - the classic Petra Chérie by Italian master Attilio Micheluzzi follows the dramatic adventures of a mysterious heroine during the end of World War I. Set during World War I and originally published in serial format from 1977-1982, Petra Chérie follows the adventures of Petra De Karlowitz, 'Chérie' to creator Attilio Micheluzzi, who addresses her throughout the book. Born to a Polish businessman and the most beautiful woman in Paris, raised in Canton, China, and now based in neutral Holland, she is a spy who answers only to herself. Evoking but cleverly eschewing stereotypes of the femme fatale, Petra is equally at home in the cockpit of an airplane and behind the wheel of a motorcar. More than that, she is an endlessly fascinating enigma and one of the most iconic characters in Italian comics. In short, thrilling tales across sky, sea, and land, zipping from Northern Europe to Mitteleuropa, from the Balkans to the Bosphorus to the nascent Soviet Union, Micheluzzi grapples with an era when Europe's borders were in flux and battle lines were often blurred. Petra steps in where national allegiances come into conflict with our common humanity. Attilio Micheluzzi, an architect by training who grew up between Istria, Libya, and Naples, brings his international experiences and his keen sense of perspective to his work. In the tradition of the Corto Maltese adventures and stylish look of Guido Crepax's Valentina, Petra Chérie is the touchstone book in Fantagraphics' comprehensive Micheluzzi library, prepared in collaboration with the author's daughter Agnese Micheluzzi. In this volume: What insights can Krazy glean from an art exhibit of the old masters? What happens when Krazy applies for a job as a debt collector? What's with all the balloons? And volcanos? Why is a giraffe wandering lost in the desert? These are just some of the questions in this collection of the surreal adventures of Krazy Kat, Ignatz, and Offisa Pup. With incisive essays by Herriman scholars, and reproductions of rare Herriman ephemera, this entry in our ongoing series makes it plain why this is considered this to be 'the greatest comic strip of the 20th Century.' An intricate monograph for a major retrospective of fine artist and cartoonist Guy Colwell's figurative paintings, each teeming with life, sparkling with color, rich in observational and sharp social commentary. Go Figure collects 44 'social surrealist' figurative paintings, spanning 1987-2023. All are in eye-popping color: many depict a crowd in observational tableaux, each figure a character by virtue of dress, body language, and interactions with each other, animals, and their setting. Other paintings reflect Colwell's wide travels, and still others are surreal - such as 'Junior and the Legs' (2023), which shows a young man strumming a guitar on stage, accompanied by disembodied women's limbs. Each image has a narrative and a moral purpose-often, one figure bravely moves forward, despite a hostile crowd. In Guy Colwell's world, no individual could ever be an island, just another part of a rich ecosystem. Thematically, then, it is fitting that this book was made possible by a group of his collectors, who are sponsoring the show/Guy Colwell retrospective 'Imaginary Reality,' from which this book is created, in an independent space. Go Figure is in an 11' X 11' format, to best feature the high-quality reproductions of these numerous critically praised works. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

John Kenn Mortensen's mordant, black-and-white inked images have taken you to The Nightmare Factory, scared you with The Bestiary, and given you Night Terrors - now in the internationally bestselling artist's debut graphic novel, you're going to fight like hell! Freestyle wrestler The Sledgehammer has never met defeat, not at the hands of Painkiller, Handsome Jens, Fezzik the Giant or the Angel of Death. But over the course of 80 pages, Danish illustrator John Kenn Mortensen's surreal black and white graphic novel will take Sledgehammer to the limits of reality, to show that he's motivated by far more than hubris-it's also love. Mortensen's first English-language graphic novel delivers on the promise that his delightfully macabre books of illustration had previously made to readers around the world. With his spidery black-ink style, reminiscent of Edward Gorey's gothic line, we're taken to a world in which heavy metal mixes with the WWE by way of The Seventh Seal and Faust. The definitive edition of the Great American Grunge Graphic Novel, now collected in paperback for the first time! Peter Bagge, along with the Hernandez brothers and Daniel Clowes, is one of the primary architects of the alternative comics genre that exploded in the 1980s and 1990s. His compelling and best-selling comic book series Hate chronicled the exploits of Buddy Bradley and his gang of lovable losers through the rise and fall of the grunge era, and beyond. Going beyond mere satire, Bagge's observations helped fashion the aesthetics and attitudes of the only significant youth movement to emerge from the Pacific Northwest. A contemporary review by Bruce Barcott in the Seattle Weekly stated, 'Twenty years from now, when people want to know what it was like to be young in 1990s Seattle, the only record we'll have is Peter Bagge's Hate.' The Complete Hate is a new paperback series that includes the original 30-issue run from 1990-1998, the nine subsequent Hate Annuals, and tons of other Hate-related comics, illustrations, and ephemera created for books, magazines, comics, toys, and other merchandise. Bagge combined his cartoony drawing style with uncomfortably real Gen X characters, and the comic books resonated with readers. Vol. 1 collects the first major arc of the series, (Hate 1-15), focusing on young Buddy Bradley's travails in early 1990s Seattle, with a lengthy introduction by Bagge. Each volume contains new covers, endpapers, title pages, and other surprises by the author. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

For almost three decades, master cartoonist Jordan Crane has put together a body of short stories that garnered him multiple Eisner and Ignatz Award nominations, via the pages of his comic book series Uptight and the influential comics anthology, Non. Yet they have never been collected until now. Featuring over a dozen short stories (spanning multiple genres) published over the past 25 years, Goes Like This is a gorgeously packaged anthology (including varying paper stocks and exposed spine) of Crane's work. 'The Hand of Gold' is a short but grim Weird Western, a morality play in which an accidental crime leads a criminal to a supernatural maximum security cell. 'Below the Shade of Night' presents an anxiety that is rooted in the follies and ignorance of childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. 'Vicissitude' maps uncharted territory of graphic melancholia via a tale of infidelity. 'Trash Night' depicts the troubled relationship of Dee and Leo, with mounting tension and mistrust that reaches a boiling point. In 'The Dark Nothing,' a rare foray into science fiction, the three-person crew of prospecting ship Sagasu 17 attempt to harvest an asteroid, and things go horribly awry. 'The Middle Nowhere' begins with a man waiting in a small shack. All around him is a black sand desert. The wind rises, the rain comes, and it just might be the end of everything he's known. Also featuring additional prints and drawings from the author's archives, Goes Like This is a tantalizing sampler of one of the most brilliant cartoonists working today. The final volume collecting 'the last great comic strip,' by the creator of Harold and the Purple Crayon. The long-lost comic strip masterpiece by legendary children's book author Crockett Johnson, is finally collected and designed by acclaimed graphic novelist and Barnaby superfan Daniel Clowes (Ghost World). Volume Five collects the final two-plus years of the strip, including the rarely-if-ever-seen conclusion of the strip, as five-year-old Barnaby Baxter says goodbye to his Fairy Godfather, Mr. O'Malley. Unlike most comic strips, Barnaby ended its ten-year run with an emotionally satisfying ending that broke the hearts of fans when first published in newspapers. The magic of Barnaby resides in its canny mix of fantasy and satire, amplified by the understated elegance of Crockett Johnson's clean, spare art. Barnaby expanded our sense of what comics can do through its combination of Johnson's sly wit and O'Malley's amiable windbaggery, illustrating a child's feeling of wonder and an adult's wariness, highly literate jokes and a keen eye for the ridiculous. This volume also features essays by comics historian Susan Kirtley and Johnson biographer Philip Nel, as well as an introduction by filmmaker Ron Howard, whose acting career was launched in 1959 at the age of five, when he was cast as Barnaby in a 1959 adaptation for General Electric Theater, hosted by Ronald Reagan. The book includes rarely-seen stills from the 1959 production - which also featured Wizard of Oz alum Bert Lahr as Mr. O'Malley! (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

A landmark graphic novel debut and groundbreaking work of trauma recollection told in the style of post-war children's comics. 'If an exorcism can ever be slow and quiet, then every panel I've finished has felt something like an exorcism. The gutters give me space to make sense of things: to connect dots and close gaps. To remember.' Kayla E.'s Precious Rubbish is an experimental graphic memoir drawn in a style that references the aesthetics of mid-century children's comics and tells the story of a childhood shaped by maternal emotional dysregulation, rural poverty, and incest. The author's childhood is portrayed as a collection of short-form comics and gag panels punctuated by interactive elements like paper dolls, satirical advertisements, games, and puzzles. While the work is concerned with violence and a particularly Texan brand of Pentecostal fanaticism, it is presented in a playful visual language with a deadpan humor that elevates the material beyond mere graphic memoir. Precious Rubbish is a landmark work of comics storytelling and graphic medicine. The debut graphic novel from artist Kayla E., Precious Rubbish asks the reader to do the extratextual work of filling out narrative gaps, which mirrors the challenge of trauma recollection. The reader is invited to co-labor in the meaning-making process, an exercise that facilitates an intimacy (between the author, the subject, and the reader) that is at once horrifying and hilarious. This brilliant YA graphic novel is a love letter to family and all of the messy complexities they come with, from the acclaimed author of Ephemera: A Memoir. Set in the author's own teenage years, Raised By Ghosts begins in 1991 with semi-autobiographical Briana in middle school. Classes are a bummer, but lunches are worse; either spent alone, or being teased. Traditionally a good student, Briana is not doing well in her academics, but keeps it a secret. Her parents (divorced) are a mess, and largely absent. She spends a lot of time by herself. By high school, she makes friends, and those connections are her only source of happiness as they help each other navigate adolescence. But life at home with each parent remains fraught. When her relationships at school begin to falter, she has no one to turn to, forcing Briana to grapple with her sense of self-worth, her longing for belonging, and her desire for authenticity in her relationships. Raised By Ghosts is a powerful, affecting graphic novel for young adult readers. The story is told by shifting between Briana's first-person class notes and diary entries. In her understated yet masterful approach to comics storytelling, Loewinsohn eschews dramatic confrontations and overt sentimentality, preferring instead to underscore the idea that sometimes acceptance and love can be communicated through quiet, everyday moments and close family bonds. From the author of Fante Bukowski and Joseph Smith and the Mormons, a hysterical character comedy about an aging rock-God-in-his-own-mind forced to face the music. Rufus Baxter is an aging, professionally unemployed loser, desperately - delusionally - hanging on to his 1980s hair metal fantasies of headlining arenas, despite so much evidence to the contrary (like audience members ducking when he tosses promo t-shirts at an open-mic night). The rest of his bandmates in Funky Cool died decades ago in a horrible plane crash on the cusp of their first big break. When he gets kicked out of the Denver storage unit he's been illegally sleeping in, his only prospect is a last-second wedding gig the very next day - in Wyoming. A hop in his car, and possibly a peyote button or two, sends Baxter on a psychedelic and existential road trip through his past, and forces him to confront every bad decision he's made along the way. Beat It, Rufus is very much a kindred spirit with Van Sciver's Fante Bukowski series, a comedic character study both played for laughs but also infused with a surprising gravitas that has you rooting for Rufus despite having every reason not to. Van Sciver's comedic and graphic talents are in peak form in this original graphic novel, his follow-up to the award winning and critically acclaimed graphic bio, Joseph Smith and the Mormons. This haunting dystopian thriller graphic novel explores themes of mental health, queer identity, and the dangers of unchecked fascism. In the not-so-distant future, twenty-something Betty lives in a fascistic society that menacingly polices mental health. When she is caught crying in public, the Peacekeepers take her to an Orwellian health facility to control her emotions. There, she meets the defiant Berina, who opens her eyes to an alternative reality: the Resistance. If Betty can navigate a rollicking underworld, where all manner of queerness is celebrated, she just might have a chance to strike back against the regime. Deliciously twisted, fiercely contemporary, and backed by a Swedish pop soundtrack, Baby Blue is the dynamic graphic novel debut of comics artist Bim Eriksson. A vital manifesto about the need to express your unique identity in a chillingly conformist world. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

In this charming middle-grade graphic novel, 11-year-old Hazel McCrimlisk's scientist parents are kidnapped inside the ecosphere they live and work in. Can Hazel and her friends find them in time? Hazel and her parents live an idyllic life in a treehouse in the PAW (Perfect Animal Worlds) Biosphere among a series of ecologically controlled environments populated by genetically created and enhanced animals and flora. As scientists working for PAW, together with founder Dr. Henry Nimick, the McCrimlisk's mission is to create a world that will usher in an era of 'good evolution', populated with animals and plants that can transform pollution and other environmental hazards to make the region clean and habitable. But one foggy night, Hazel's parents are suddenly kidnapped. With the help of her animal friends Chimi (a multilingual toucan), Nina (a pet-sized elephant who exhibits super-strength), and her human friend (comics lover and mythology expert) Alex, Hazel tracks clues throughout the various biodomes and climates uncovering what happened to her parents and leading her to... a monster?!? Author Ali Fitzgerald charmingly wrote, drew, lettered, and colored this book featuring an imaginative setting rich with detail and an expressive brush-pen style with a good sense of personality and motion. Her colorful, anthropomorphic characters are bright and funny sleuths alongside Hazel as they follow the clues together. Filled with puns and hijinks, readers will delight in this mystery with an ecological message. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
