esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
The life of Bobby Fischer (1943-2008) had many unexpected moves-from his solitary childhood to his stratospheric accomplishments in the world of competitive chess, and eventually, his decent into mental illness and disgrace. By the time Fischer was a teen, he had established himself as a loner and dropped out of school. But none of that mattered; he had found his true calling-chess. In 1972, Fischer played what many consider 'the game of the century' against the Soviet Union's chess champion Boris Spassky at the height of the Cold War. Later, Fischer became the youngest-ever US Chess Champion and the game's youngest grandmaster. Never before had chess received such international attention. Fischer, whose sole focus in life up until then was chess, reached the Olympus of chess at 29, and then... he disappeared. Suffering from mental illness, the chess genius became increasingly paranoid, lost in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories-despite the fact that he himself was Jewish-and died as a fugitive in Iceland. With Black & White, author Julian Voloj and illustrator Wagner Willian have crafted a beautiful and fascinating work that reveals Fischer's history while also contextualizing his lasting impact on culture. An engrossing and counter view of one of the most dangerous elements of American urban history, this graphic novel tells the true story of Benjy Melendez, a Bronx legend, son of Puerto-Rican immigrants, who founded, at the end of the 1960s, the notorious Ghetto Brothers gang. From the ravages of his neighborhood, wracked by drugs, poverty, and violence, he managed to extract an incredibly positive energy from this riot ridden era: his multiracial gang promoted peace rather than violence. After initiating a gang truce, the Ghetto Brothers held weekly concerts on the streets or in abandoned buildings, which fostered the emergence of hip-hop. Melendez also began to reclaim his Jewish roots after learning about his family's dramatic crypto-Jewish background. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

Is this a dream or reality? He can feel her presence. He knows she's there… But she isn't. She takes him on a trip around New York. In all the places he wouldn't go before. Before the accident. From Coney Island to the Lower East Side, he's turning the pages of his life with the one he loved. The one he lost. NOT A NEW YORK LOVE STORY is a tale of emotions, grief and a love letter to a city like no other in the world. Dream or reality? Julian Voloj's tale plays tricks on your mind and your emotions but never loses his way through a powerful but simple story about two people forever intwined. Andreas Gefe's art brings a mix of fine art and raw expressiveness with a muted color palette that puts New York at the center of the story. NOT A NEW YORK LOVE STORY is not a romantic comedy. It's a drama, a tale of two lost souls with 'the Big Apple' as its witness. The kind of story you'll need to read twice to peel its many (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

For the first time ever, legendary photographer and videographer Clayton Patterson is the subject of a biographical graphic novel anthology. Like no other, Clayton has documented the often-overlooked people and cultural contributions of New York's Lower East Side, sometimes finding himself in perilous situations as a result. Clayton lived at the intersection of numerous underground cultures, from drag queens to punks, gangbangers to tattoo artists, an icon of an increasingly vanishing New York. Now, in the tradition of Harvey Pekar's American Splendor, eighteen artists pay tribute to him in this graphic novel anthology. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

The dazzling, provocative work of Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) would come to define the vibrant New York art scene of the late '70s and early '80s. Punk, jazz, graffiti, hip-hop: his work drew heavily on the cultural trappings of lower Manhattan. Today, Basquiat's influence can be seen not only in fine art but in fashion, design, and music. This stunning graphic novel captures the dramatic life and exhilarating times of this archetypal New York artist, covering everything from the SAMO graffiti project to his first solo show, from his relationship with Andy Warhol to the substance abuse that would cost him his life. This playful, authoritative biography shows Basquiat's work to be more important, his themes more urgent, than ever before. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels
