attaccata al trattino. Per esempio:
-Robin
esempio: @author Stan Lee

La ricerca tenterà di individuare termini somiglianti oppure
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
È possibile effettuare la ricerca anche inserendo direttamente il
codice a barre.

The classic anthology is collected in its complete form!As Marvel approached its 50th anniversary, the company launched a bold new series that echoed the variety and excitement of its earliest comics. MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS delivered a twice-monthly burst of high-energy storytelling, showcasing characters from across the Marvel pantheon. Top creators fueled the anthology: Claremont and Buscema unleashed signature Wolverine action — while Gerber, Moench and McGregor returned to Man-Thing, Shang-Chi and the Black Panther, respectively. The series also surprised readers with rare work from legends like Steve Ditko and Dave Cockrum and gave heroes such as Havok and Colossus room to shine. Fast, experimental and packed with surprises, MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS defined late-’80s Marvel. This series has never been collected in its complete form, and our continuing series of Omnibus will reprint every page!COLLECTING: Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #1-25Written by: Chris Claremont, Steve Gerber, Doug Moench, Ann Nocenti, Don McGregor, Bob Harras & Howard Mackie with Al Milgrom, John Byrne, Fabian Nicieza & morePenciled by: John Buscema, Tom Sutton, Tom Grindberg, Rick Leonardi, Gene Colan, Ron Lim & Rich Buckler with Steve Ditko, Al Milgrom, Bob Layton, John Byrne, Mark Badger, Dave Cockrum & more

Industry legend Chris Claremont is best known for his epic sixteen-year run on Uncanny X-Men. Claremont’s focus on the themes of prejudice and tolerance struck at the hearts of comics fans, and he built an unparalleled following during the next three decades. Under his pen, the X-Men franchise spawned a vast array of spin-offs, many of them written by Claremont himself. His other credits include Iron Fist, Ms. Marvel, Power Man and Spider-Woman. Claremont has returned to the X-Men universe in New Exiles, GeNext, X-Men Forever, Chaos War: X-Men and Nightcrawler.Steve Gerber (1947-2008) first came to attention writing Defenders, in which he gave the non-team a non-traditional outlook equaled by few. In Adventure of Fear, he introduced Howard the Duck. Gerber’s other 1970s contributions included scripts for Iron Man, Sub-Mariner and more. Elsewhere, he is equally well-remembered for DC’s Phantom Zone, Eclipse’s Destroyer Duck and others. In addition to runs on Fantastic Four and Thor, original Moon Knight scribe Doug Moench specialized in writing features outside the Marvel mainstream — including Adventure into Fear’s Morbius, Frankenstein, Inhumans, Ka-Zar: Lord of the Hidden Jungle, Master of Kung Fu, Werewolf by Night and Astonishing Tales’ Deathlok. Proving his eclectic abilities, he also wrote the full run of Godzilla, most of Shogun Warriors and stories for virtually every Marvel black-and-white magazine of the 1970s. He expanded on his Star-Lord and Weirdworld sagas in multiple anthology titles. At DC, he wrote memorable runs on Batman, Detective Comics and Legends of the Dark Knight — along with numerous Batman one-shots, cross-company crossovers and Elseworlds sagas. He further contributed such short-lived but unique series as Electric Warrior, Lords of the Ultra-Realm, Slash Maraud, Wanderers and Xenobrood.Bob Harras edited several titles as Ralph Macchio’s assistant, mostly tie-ins such as Micronauts, Rom, Saga of Crystar and U.S. 1. He subsequently became chief editor of the X-Men titles and wrote for multiple series, including a three-year run on Avengers. Graduating to editor in chief, he oversaw well-received runs of Captain America, Daredevil, Deadpool and other titles, as well as the controversial second Clone Saga in the 1990s’ Spider-Man titles. Harras has since worked as contributing editor at WildStorm and collected editions editor for DC Comics. He began a decade-long stint as DC’s editor in chief in 2010.Howard Mackie got his start at Marvel during the late 1980s as an editor and then a writer. One of his first series as full-time scribe was 1990’s massively popular Ghost Rider, which introduced the alter ego Danny Ketch to the mythos of the Spirit of Vengeance. He also wrote prolifically in the Spider-Man and X-Men titles of the ’90s.Al Milgrom, A.K.A. “Editori-Al,†is renowned as writer, editor, penciler and inker — and held most of those positions on Spectacular Spider-Man. He also contributed to SSM’s sibling Amazing Spider-Man. He penciled West Coast Avengers for four years and inked X-Factor for eight. His artwork has also appeared in Avengers, Captain America, Thor and most X-titles, including the classic Kitty Pryde and Wolverine. As editor, he oversaw Marvel’s Epic imprint and the sixty-issue run of Marvel Fanfare, where his satirical self-portraits made his face as recognizable as any super hero’s mask. At DC, he co-created Firestorm the Nuclear Man with Gerry Conway.John Byrne has worked continuously in the comics industry as both writer and artist since 1975. After he initially collaborated with writer Chris Claremont on Iron Fist, Byrne and Claremont moved on to X-Men for a run still regarded as one of the title’s finest. Byrne contributed an equally famed stint on Fantastic Four, earning comparisons to the original Lee/Kirby issues for his imaginative plotlines and dynamic artwork. He also spun Alpha Flight into its own title. In 1986, he revamped DC’s flagship hero, Superman, reimagining the Man of Steel in a historic project heralded by a Time magazine cover. His remarkable contribution to the Marvel Universe extends to memorable associations with virtually every major hero, including celebrated runs on Captain America, Iron Man, Sensational She-Hulk, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Thing. In the 21st century, Byrne’s considerable body of work includes IDW’s Star Trek and Angel.Since his start on the New Universe’s Psi-Force and backup stories in Classic X-Men, Fabian Nicieza has written most of Marvel’s major super-teams — including Alpha Flight, the Avengers, the New Warriors, the Thunderbolts and the X-Men. Together with artist Rob Liefeld, Nicieza transformed New Mutants into the blockbuster X-Force. The writer also tackled solo heroes ranging from Cable and Deadpool (later combined in Cable & Deadpool) to Gambit and Nomad. He edited Marvel’s Star imprint, contributed to multititle X-events like “X-Cutioner’s Song†and “Phalanx Covenant,†and wrote various “pre-modern†limited series such as Adventures of Captain America and Citizen V and the V-Battalion. Elsewhere, he has written both JLA and Justice League Adventures, The 99, Turok, X-Files, and others.John Buscema (1927-2002) literally wrote the book on being a Marvel artist — namely, How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way — and few were better qualified. His career dated back to the Timely/Atlas era of the late ’40s and early ’50s. Soon after beginning the Marvel Age of Comics, Stan Lee recruited Buscema from the advertising field to the Marvel Bullpen. Buscema followed a long run on Avengers with the long-anticipated first Silver Surfer series. He subsequently succeeded Jack Kirby on Fantastic Four, Thor and other titles. By the time of his retirement in 1996, Buscema had penciled nearly every Marvel title — including his personal favorite, Conan the Barbarian. The industry lost an icon with the passing of Tom Sutton (1937-2002), best remembered as the original artist of the cult-classic icon Vampirella. Having begun his career with the comic strip Johnny Craig and contributions to underground comics, Sutton worked in multiple genres at Marvel — including Western (Kid Colt Outlaw, Rawhide Kid), humor (Arrgh, Crazy, Not Brand Ecch), super heroes (Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider), and the licensed Planet of the Apes titles. During a run on Amazing Adventures, he and writer Steve Englehart revamped the X-Men’s Beast into his better-known furry form. Moving to DC Comics, he penciled nearly every issue of the 1984-1988 series Star Trek and, with J.M. DeMatteis, co-created “I, Vampire†for House of Mystery before returning to Marvel to pencil a Man-Thing serial in Marvel Comics Presents. Sutton’s additional body of work includes art for Charlton Comics, Eros Comics, First Comics and Skywald Publications.Three different incarnations of Cloak and Dagger were only a few of Rick Leonardi’s artistic achievements for Marvel. His other credits include Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants and Spider-Man 2099. At DC, he drew Batman family titles Batgirl and Nightwing, as well as comic/film crossover Green Lantern vs. Aliens. At Event Comics, he penciled Painkiller Jane. The unique, shadowy style of Gene Colan (1926-2011) most memorably appeared in long stints on Captain America and Daredevil, and all 70 issues of Tomb of Dracula — among the dozens of other Marvel titles he has drawn. His DC work on Detective Comics and Night Force is equally well remembered. During the Golden Age, he drew multiple war stories for Marvel and DC alike. Colan has earned several Eagle Awards and had professional art showings in New York City. His work on Ed Brubaker’s Captain America at the age of 82 drew well-deserved raves. After establishing himself on Eternity’s Ex-Mutants and First’s Badger, Ron Lim went cosmic with a six-year penciling run on Silver Surfer, followed by a collaboration with Jim Starlin on the Warlock/Thanos Infinity multi-miniseries saga. With writer Tom DeFalco, he helped create the look and characters of the MC2 universe, while he explored a different Marvel future during a 35-issue run on X-Men 2099. Lim’s other Marvel credits include Captain America, Spider-Man Unlimited and Venom: Lethal Protector. His place in Marvel history assured when he helped introduce Deathlok in the pages of Astonishing Tales, Rich Buckler also penciled several storylines in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man — along with runs on Jungle Action’s Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Thor and other monthly titles, as well as Roy Thomas’s miniseries Saga of the Sub-Mariner and Saga of the Original Human Torch. Buckler’s 1970s DC work includes Lois Lane, Secret Society of Super-Villains and World’s Finest, as well as the groundbreaking Superman vs. Shazam. During the 1980s, he and Thomas collaborated on All-Star Squadron. He worked in the barbarian and horror genres for both Marvel and DC, illustrated Archie’s Mighty Crusaders, and contributed to black-and-white magazines for both Marvel and Warren Publishing. He was editor of the short-lived Solson Publications and wrote two books on comic-book art.Steve Ditko (1927-2018) began his comics career in the anthologies of the 1950s, where his unique style and perspective quickly earned recognition and respect. Recruited to join Stan Lee’s Atlas Comics, later Marvel, in 1958, his nuances contrasted well with Jack Kirby’s bombast. In 1962, in the pages of Amazing Fantasy, Ditko and Lee brought to life Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man, changing the industry forever. The pair’s other iconic co-creation, Doctor Strange, debuted in Strange Tales. Ditko returned to Marvel during the late 1970s and remained for much of the 1980s — co-creating Speedball, Squirrel Girl and other characters.Al Milgrom, A.K.A. At DC, he co-created Firestorm the Nuclear Man with Gerry Conway.Bob Layton began as a prolific and popular inker for Charlton, Marvel and DC Comics, where he first teamed with longtime collaborator David Michelinie on Claw the Unconquered and Star Hunters. The Michelinie-Layton duo’s writing work on Iron Man (1978-1982 and 1987-1989) is one of the most popular and influential interpretations of that character. Leaving Marvel in 1990, he became a key writer/artist/editor at Valiant Comics, where he co-created characters such as X-O Manowar and rose to the post of editor in chief before departing. He still does occasional freelance work for DC and Marvel, notably Michelinie-Layton reunion projects Iron Man: Bad Blood (2000), Iron Man: Legacy of Doom (2008) and Iron Man: The End (2009).John Byrne has worked continuously in the comics industry as both writer and artist since 1975. In the 21st century, Byrne’s considerable body of work includes IDW’s Star Trek and Angel.Mark Badger’s magic-oriented Marvel work includes the Defenders’ Gargoyle miniseries and the Greenberg the Vampire graphic novel, both written by fellow mysticism enthusiast J.M. DeMatteis; he also penciled Roger Stern’s Doctor Strange/Doctor Doom graphic novel. At DC, he illustrated adventures of two very different detectives, Batman and Martian Manhunter. His work elsewhere includes Dark Horse Presents and First Comics’ American Flagg. As a boy, artist Dave Cockrum (1943-2006) dreamed of working in the comic-book industry; after a six-year stint in the Navy, he headed straight for the big time. With a natural talent for illustrating super heroes, Cockrum landed a gig on Legion of Super-Heroes for DC Comics. Soon after his debut, Cockrum showcased his knack for innovative costume designs, becoming the first artist to revamp the look of the classic futuristic super-hero team since its original Silver Age debut. After leaving Legion in 1975, Cockrum collaborated with writer Len Wein to create a new lineup of X-Men – including Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus. Cockrum’s bold new mutants quickly caught the attention of comic-book fans, transforming X-Men into a best-selling title. Although Cockrum has reduced his artistic output in recent years, his strong influence on modern creators remains steadfast – as evidenced by the release of The Uncanny Cockrum Tribute Book in 2004, boasting contributions from more than 75 notable writers and artists.

Joe Kelly broke into Marvel in 1997, adding his own style of irreverence to Deadpool and turning the title into a cult sensation. After runs on Daredevil and X-Men, Kelly departed for DC Comics, where he delivered award-winning work on Action Comics and Superboy. He subsequently returned to Marvel, collaborating with the “Spider-Man Brain Trust†and penning several memorable arcs on Amazing Spider-Man. Kelly combined the two Marvel characters with which he is most closely associated in the riotous team-up series Spider-Man/Deadpool. Along with several fellow comic creators, Kelly established Man of Action, the studio that has produced the Ben 10 animated series.Best known as an editor, James Felder wrote stories for several Marvel anthology titles, including Marvel: Shadows and Light, Marvel Comics Presents and What If? After co-plotting issues of Deadpool with Joe Kelly, he wrote the Deadpool Team-Up one-shot, in which the Merc with a Mouth encountered the infamous Beyonder.Writer/editor Stan Lee (1922-2018) made comic-book history together with Jack Kirby in 1961 with Fantastic Four #1. The monumental popularity of its new style inspired Lee to develop similarly themed characters — including the Hulk and X-Men with Kirby, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange with Steve Ditko, and Daredevil with Bill Everett. After shepherding his creations through dozens of issues — in some cases a hundred or more — Lee allowed other writers to take over, but he maintained steady editorial control. Eventually, he helped expand Marvel into a multimedia empire. In recent years, his frequent cameo appearances in Marvel’s films established Lee as one of the world’s most famous faces.Artist Ed McGuinness came to prominence with his work on Harris Comics’ Vampirella and Marvel’s Deadpool. At Awesome Entertainment, McGuinness participated in a Fighting American revamp with writer Jeph Loeb, who would become a longtime collaborator. A short run on WildStorm’s Mr. Majestic led to a longer one on DC Comics’ Superman and the launch of Superman/Batman with Loeb. Back at Marvel, McGuinness reunited with Loeb for Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America, Hulk and Avengers: X-Sanction before launching Amazing X-Men with Jason Aaron. McGuinness has reteamed with his Deadpool scribe Joe Kelly for Spider-Man/Deadpool and with Aaron on a blockbuster relaunch of Avengers.Born in Portland, Oregon, Aaron Lopresti studied business and briefly worked in the film industry before starting a career as a commercial artist at Art Farm Studios. He broke into comics in 1993 as the artist of Malibu’s Sludge series for the Ultraverse line, later acquired by Marvel. Lopresti has since drawn projects featuring Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, Plastic Man, Superboy, Gen¹³, Mystic, Xena and Star Trek for various publishers, as well as the self-published Atomic Toybox and CHIX. His many Marvel/Malibu credits include Amazing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Elven, Generation X, New X-Men, Rogue, Sentinel Squad O*N*E, Uncanny X-Men, What The--?! and What If?, plus longer runs on Excalibur, Incredible Hulk and Ms. Marvel.Bernard Chang broke into comics at Valiant, earning acclaim for his art on The Second Life of Dr. Mirage and The Visitor. Chang subsequently drew the New Mutants: Truth or Death miniseries for Marvel; at DC, he has contributed to Supergirl, Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as the New 52 titles DC Universe Presents and Demon Knights. Outside comics, Chang has designed several award-winning Disney attractions and provided illustrations for a number of books, including Jenna Jameson’s autobiography.Shannon Denton began his comics career contributing art to various Image titles. After a short stint illustrating Deadpool, Denton wrote and drew the Antarctic Press one-shots Big Game and Actionopolis, and cowrote several titles with Keith Giffen, including Common Foe, Grunts and Gutwrencher. In 2000, Denton founded independent publisher Komikwerks. Denton also works in the animation field and has contributed to several Fox Kids shows — including the X-Men, Spider-Man and Silver Surfer — as well as the film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. After getting his start as an intern at WildStorm Productions, artist Pete Woods went on to illustrate such WildStorm titles as StormWatch, Wetworks and Backlash. Moving to Marvel, he drew issues of Excalibur before joining writer Joe Kelly on Deadpool. At DC, he penciled a four-year run on Robin, later working on Action Comics with writers Geoff Johns and Paul Cornell, and the miniseries Superman: Last Stand of New Krypton with cowriters James Robinson and Sterling Gates.Walter McDaniel’s Marvel output includes annuals for Gambit, Ka-Zar and Wolverine, along with stints on Deadpool and Deathlok. Elsewhere, he has drawn Earth 4 for Continuity Comics, as well as Crush and Pact for Image. Steve Harris has penciled Deadpool/Death 1998 Annual and issues of Generation X. He has also worked for Warren Publishing and Willyprods. After his start on Action Force and Transformers for Marvel UK, Anthony Williams penciled Marvel’s Squadron Supreme: New World Order one-shot, Hokum and Hex (a Clive Barker creation), and DC’s Fate. In the pages of 2000 AD, he collaborated with Dan Abnett, Garth Ennis, Mark Millar and Grant Morrison, among other noted British writers.Artist David Brewer began his career at Marvel, contributing fill-in art on various titles and drawing several issues of 2099: World of Tomorrow and Incredible Hulk. For DC, Brewer illustrated several annuals before moving to Chaos! Comics, where he drew the Dead King and Lady Demon miniseries, as well as several Evil Ernie comics, including the Depraved and War of the Dead spinoffs.John Romita was born in 1930 and drew for Atlas Era Marvel Comics across many genres. By the time Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko were defining the look and feel of the Marvel Age of Comics during the 1960s, Romita had made the move to DC Comics, where he was working exclusively behind the boards of the company’s many romance comics. It wasn’t until 1966 that he returned to Marvel Comics and the super-hero genre, drawing Daredevil before taking over from Ditko on what was fast becoming Marvel’s most important book, Amazing Spider-Man. Romita’s slick, clean craftsmanship would be a hallmark of his tenure, and his years of drawing beautiful women in DC’s romance books paid off with iconic renderings of Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson and the other women in Peter Parker’s life.Reimagining New Mutants into X-Force was only the start for Rob Liefeld, one of the leaders of the 1990s comics revolution. After introducing both Cable and Deadpool, he launched an even bigger collaboration as one of the founders of Image Comics with his original property Youngblood. In 1996, he participated in Marvel’s multi-title Heroes Reborn event. Liefeld returned to Marvel fo an X-Force limited series and then revisited Heroes Reborn in Onslaught Reborn. Liefeld returned to his most famous co-creation with the graphic novel Deadpool: Bad Blood, its limited series sequel Deadpool: Badder Blood and the blockbuster Deadpool Team-Up, and introduced a new sensation in Major X.

Writer/editor Stan Lee (1922-2018) made comic-book history together with Jack Kirby in 1961 with Fantastic Four #1. In recent years, his frequent cameo appearances in Marvel’s films established Lee as one of the world’s most famous faces.Roy Thomas joined the Marvel Bullpen as a writer and editor under Stan Lee, scripting key runs of nearly every title of the time: Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner, Thor, X-Men and more. He wrote the first 10 years of Marvel’s Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan; and launched such series as Defenders, Iron Fist, Invaders and Warlock. At DC, he developed All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc. and related titles, proving instrumental in reviving the Golden Age Justice Society of America. Thomas later became editor of Alter Ego, a magazine devoted to comic-book history, and co-scripted the sword-and-sorcery films Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer. As both writer and artist, Archie Goodwin (d. 1998) got his start in comic strips and cartoons before moving to Warren Publishing’s Vampirella — and from there to Marvel, where he eventually succeeded Gerry Conway as editor in chief. He has been credited with saving Marvel from financial ruin, with Roy Thomas, by securing adaptation rights to the legendary Star Wars franchise, perceiving its potential long before later merchandisers. He also wrote comic-book adaptations of Alien, Blade Runner and other hit films. He created both Marvel’s Graphic Novel line and its Epic Comics imprint — where, as editor, he occasionally appeared in caricature as alien, elf or other. He also edited early English translations of the Akira series and the works of Moebius. At DC Comics, he guided the destinies of Batman and Starman; one of his most memorable bodies of work was his collaboration with Walter Simonson on the “Manhunter†backup feature in Detective Comics, which won five Shazam Awards.Guaranteed immortality for introducing Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider, Gary Friedrich also played a pivotal role in Marvel’s 1970s Western and war comics, penning memorable tales of Sgt. Fury and launching the Marine series Captain Savage. In addition, Friedrich wrote issues of Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, X-Men and more. With Steve Ditko, he co-created Charlton’s Blue Beetle, now a DC character. With Len Brown, he has written a series of books on popular music.Arnold Drake (1924-2007) helped shape the Silver Age both at Marvel with Captain Marvel and X-Men; and at DC with Batman, Doom Patrol and “Stanley and His Monster.†His media tie-in work ranged from Star Trek to Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis. He wrote, produced and directed the 1964 horror film The Flesh Eaters, and wrote lyrics for several musicals. He won 1967 Alley Awards for Best Full-Length Story and Best New Strip (both for Deadman in Strange Adventures), as well as the Bill Finger Award for Excellence in Comics Writing. An unparalleled talent, Bill Everett created Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, comics’ original anti-hero, whose ongoing adventures set the bar for sophisticated comic-book serials. Equally as skilled at illustrating horror and war comics, Everett continued as one of Timely’s top artists until 1957. Once the Marvel Age kicked off, Stan Lee brought Everett back into the fold to co-create Daredevil and return once more to his signature creation, the Sub-Mariner.John Buscema (1927-2002) literally wrote the book on being a Marvel artist — namely, How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way — and few were better qualified. By the time of his retirement in 1996, Buscema had penciled nearly every Marvel title — including his personal favorite, Conan the Barbarian.During the 1960s, when males dominated the industry, Marie Severin earned the respect of her peers with her seemingly limitless talents in every facet of comic-book production — from penciling to inking to lettering to coloring. Her earliest recorded work was for EC Comics in 1949, and she went on to contribute coloring across the famous publisher’s line before moving to Marvel’s predecessor Atlas Comics. In the Silver Age of comics, Severin made her mark in the Bullpen, drawing the adventures of Doctor Strange and becoming the company’s head colorist before going on to concentrate on penciling. Her extensive contribution to Marvel across a wide array of titles includes providing the original design for Spider-Woman. Severin was inducted into the Will Eisner Comics Hall of Fame in 2001.Dan Adkins (1937-2013) worked on comic books and science-fiction magazines from an early age; as the Silver Age of comics dawned, he joined the Wally Wood Studio as Wood’s assistant, their collaborations including stories in such titles as Creepy and Eerie. Adkins arrived at Marvel in 1967 and worked primarily as an inker on an array of titles, including an extensive run on Conan the Barbarian. He also penciled the adventures of Doctor Strange, Ka-Zar and others. Also famed for his cover paintings, Adkins was inducted into the Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame in the Inkwell Awards of 2019.Born Jacob Kurtzberg in 1917 to Jewish-Austrian parents on New York’s Lower East Side, Jack Kirby came of age at the birth of the American comic book industry. Beginning his career during the rising tide of Nazism, Kirby and fellow artist Joe Simon created the patriotic hero Captain America. Cap’s exploits on the comic book page entertained millions of American readers at home and inspired U.S. troops fighting the enemy abroad. When World War II ended, the public’s interest in super heroes waned; Kirby turned his artistic talents during the 1950s to other genres, such as monsters, Westerns and crime — as well as the first-of-its-kind Young Romance Comics. In 1961, Kirby returned to super heroes to illustrate what would become the defining issue in Marvel Comics history: Fantastic Four #1. Written by Stan Lee, the team’s debut revolutionized the industry overnight. In contrast to the staid artwork of his predecessors, Kirby’s illustrations seemed to leap off the page with eye-popping action and drama. For the next decade, Kirby and Lee would introduce a mind-boggling array of new characters — including the Avengers, the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, the Silver Surfer and the X-Men. Taken together, Kirby’s groundbreaking work with Lee formed the foundation of the Marvel Universe. In the early 1970s, Kirby moved to DC Comics, where his boundless creativity continued. He returned to Marvel in 1975, writing and illustrating Captain America and introducing his final major concept, the Eternals. With the explosion of TV animation during the 1980s, Kirby’s talents turned to the small screen. Comic fans quickly recognized his work on such series as Thundarr the Barbarian and Turbo Teen. Kirby died in 1994, but his influence on the comic book industry is as strong as ever. His work has inspired a generation of professional artists and modern writers who continue to explore his vast universe of concepts and characters. Sutton’s additional body of work includes art for Charlton Comics, Eros Comics, First Comics and Skywald Publications. In 1976, Ross Andru (1927-1993) made comic-book history by penciling the first large-scale intercompany crossover, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man, having spent years illustrating both characters in various titles. He also made Marvel history in Marvel Feature, drawing the Defenders’ first appearance. At DC, he spent nine years collaborating with Bob Kanigher on Wonder Woman. With Marv Wolfman and Mike Esposito, he co-created Vigilante (Adrian Chase).

New York Times best-selling author Mark Waid has worked for every major company in the comics industry in a nearly three-decade-long career, writing thousands of issues, including runs of Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, Ka-Zar and Fantastic Four. His other works of note include his collaboration with painter Alex Ross on Kingdom Come, which earned an Eisner Award for Best Limited Series. Waid enjoyed his greatest outpouring of critical acclaim with the Eisner Award-winning Daredevil — which included a revered collaboration with frequent artistic partner Chris Samnee. He later took on such diverse pop-cultural icons as Princess Leia and Archie, and ushered in a new era of greatness for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in All-New, All-Different Avengers. His Marvel work continued with Avengers, Black Widow, Captain America, Champions and Doctor Strange.Dan Slott has built a loyal fan base by combining old-school fun with stories and characterizations friendly to new readers. Following his run on She-Hulk, Slott moved into the upper echelon of Marvel writers, launching Avengers: The Initiative and taking the reins on Mighty Avengers from Brian Michael Bendis. When Marvel gave Spider-Man a fresh start in 2008, Slott was one of several rotating writers on the thrice-monthly Amazing Spider-Man. Slott became the writer most closely identified with the web-slinger’s “Brand New Day†era, and the title hit the “Big Time†when he took over as full-time writer for a decade-long run. Slott has also turned his talents to other iconic Marvel heroes — including soaring the spaceways with Silver Surfer; helming Tony Stark: Iron Man toward Iron Man 2020; and masterminding the glorious return of Fantastic Four, leading to his long-awaited “Reckoning War.†In 2022, Slott made his way back to the Spider-Verse, teaming with legendary penciler Mark Bagley on Spider-Man and introducing the sidekick sensation Spider-Boy. Christopher Yost got his start in animation writing for the series X-Men: Evolution; he quickly worked his way up to head writer of shows like Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and the animated DVDs Hulk Vs. and Next Avengers. Yost broke into comics with his work on X-23 and is known for hard-hitting series like New X-Men, X-Force and the runaway hit Scarlet Spider.Writer Rob Williams got his start on the legendary British comic magazine 2000AD and the critically acclaimed Cla$$war. Wolverine: Father, Dark X-Men: The Beginning, Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force, Skaar: King of the Savage Land and Iron Age.Canadian artist Ty Templeton began his career in the mid-1980s with his first original comic series Stig’s Inferno. The comic ran for eight issues through Vortex and Eclipse Comics. Templeton went on to write and draw some of the world’s most popular comic books — ranging from Justice League to Superman to Batman Adventures, as well as TV-associated comics for shows from Ren & Stimpy to Bob Newhart to The Simpsons. In 2002, Templeton released his creator-owned graphic novel Bigg Time — the satirical story of a homeless man who suddenly is able to see his guardian angel and immediately learns just how (deliberately) bad a job this angel has done, keeping his life in the gutter. He is also the author of the books How to Draw Batman and How to Draw Superman.Though a professional illustrator and architect in her native Spain, Emma Rios would rather you call her a comic artist. Her first American work, for Mark Waid’s BOOM! Studios title Hexed, went so well Waid drafted her to draw his Marvel miniseries Strange — starring the titular Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange. She has also collaborated with Sean McKeever on his Firestar one-shot, Zeb Wells on Shadowland: Elektra and Amazing Spider-Man, Kelly Sue DeConnick on Osborn, and Nick Spencer on Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger.Artist Kano first received acclaim after an extended run on DC’s Action Comics. For Marvel, he has drawn Immortal Iron Fist, Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four, Marvel Zombies 5 and Daredevil.Artist Humberto Ramos made his American comics debut in 1994 with DC’s Impulse, featuring the Flash’s brash grandson. In 1998, Ramos launched the creator-owned Crimson under Wildstorm’s Cliffhanger imprint, illustrating the title for more than two years. He then moved to Marvel, becoming one of the most recognizable and innovative talents in comics. Seamlessly blending both Eastern and Western styles, the artist’s artist has worked on many of Marvel’s most iconic characters — including Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men — in addition to a run on the fan-favorite Runaways. Ramos brought his kinetic artwork to the pages of Extraordinary X-Men and Champions, as well as a magical collaboration with Skottie Young on Strange Academy.Matthew Clark has worked for DC Comics on titles such as Doom Patrol, Adventures of Superman and Outsiders. Camuncoli illustrated the entire 25-issue run of writer Charles Soule’s Star Wars: Darth Vader.Italian illustrator Stefano Caselli broke into American comics during the early 2000s with work on titles including Marvel’s Mutant X and Thunderbolts. He enhanced his reputation on series such as Avengers: The Initiative, Secret Warriors and Avengers Assemble before playing a key role in the rotating art team on Dan Slott’s Amazing Spider-Man and joining Jonathan Hickman on Avengers. Acclaimed author and screenwriter Benjamin Percy broke into comics in 2014 with a two-issue Batman story arc in Detective Comics. He is also known for his work on Nightwing, Green Arrow and Teen Titans for DC Comics, and James Bond: Black Box for Dynamite Entertainment. Percy wrote two seasons of Marvel’s Wolverine podcast series: Wolverine: The Long Night, which was listed as one of the top fifteen podcasts of the year by Apple and won the iHeart Radio Award for best scripted podcast in 2018, and Wolverine: The Lost Trail. In print, he was a key contributor to the X-Men’s Krakoan Era as writer of X-Force and Wolverine. Percy blazed a new trail for the Spirit of Vengeance with his deliciously dark revival of Ghost Rider and pitted some of Marvel’s greatest heroes against the iconic movie hunters, the Predators. After the mash-up concept Hellverine proved a smash hit in Percy’s Wolverine/Ghost Rider: Weapons of Vengeance crossover, the writer launched a Hellverine limited series followed by an ongoing series — with Wolverine’s son, Akihiro, assuming the mantle. And Percy was the ideal choice to unite the ultimate odd couple in the pages of Deadpool/Wolverine.Joshua Cassara made a big splash with his work on the event Secret Empire, as well as its tie-in Secret Empire: Uprising one-shot. He joined writer Rodney Barnes to challenge Sam Wilson as never before on Falcon, and teamed with writer Jeff Lemire and fellow artist Kim Jacinto on Sentry. He collaborated with his wife, Louise, on both X-Factor and Wildstorm’s World of Warcraft, later returning to Marvel to illustrate Brian Michael Bendis’ Avengers.Jim Lee is perhaps today’s hottest comic-book artist. Since the late ’80s, his work for Marvel, DC and Image — the company he helped found — has set trends that survive to this day. After honing his skills with memorable runs on Alpha Flight and Punisher War Journal, Lee rose to prominence on Uncanny X-Men. Lee then revamped the mutant team’s look and helped launch the second X-Men series, whose first issue remains one of the best-selling comic books of all time. In 1992, he and other artists formed Image Comics. Lee’s group of titles, published under the Wildstorm Productions imprint, included the mega-popular WildC.A.T.s, Stormwatch and Gen13. He began a decade-long stint as DC’s editor in chief in 2010.Steve Englehart’s history-making contributions to the Marvel Universe began with the Beast’s solo feature in Amazing Adventures, in which the eloquent X-Man first assumed furry form. As Avengers writer, he masterminded such major events as “The Avengers/Defenders War†(in both teams’ titles) and “The Celestial Madonna Saga.†In Captain America, he identified and solved the “mystery†of the 1950s Captain America (later revived by Ed Brubaker), and gave the true Cap the alternate identity of Nomad. Englehart’s Dr. Strange storyline in Marvel Premiere established the character as Sorcerer Supreme and covered the creation of the universe itself. At DC, he helped revamp Batman, Green Lantern, Superman and other major heroes for the 1970s. Back at Marvel, he wrote the first few years of West Coast Avengers and Silver Surfer. His published novels include Countdown to Flight, Hellstorm (part of the TALON Force series), Majorca, The Point Man and, with wife Terry Beach, books in the DNAgers young-adult series. While studying as an artist, Purves got a job at Marvel Productions in California doing storyboard cleanup, beginning his successful career in animation working for studios including Warner Brothers, Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera. In comics, he is best remembered for his lengthy collaboration with Peter David on Incredible Hulk.Alex Saviuk established himself as a major Marvel artist with a seven-year run on Web of Spider-Man. He also worked on the animated-series tie-in Spider-Man Adventures and drew the Amazing Spider-Man comic strip from scripts by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber. At DC, he penciled and inked Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and other titles. Keith Pollard drew simultaneous runs on three of Marvel’s longest-running titles: Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Thor, including Roy Thomas and Mark Gruenwald’s “Eternals Saga.†During the 1990s, he singlehandedly penciled hundreds of characters for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Master Edition.Beginning as Stan Lee’s production assistant, Herb Trimpe (1939-2015) went on to pencil a seven-year run on Marvel mainstay Incredible Hulk — during which he debuted the future X-Man, Wolverine — as well as 1970s classics Marvel Team-Up, Shogun Warriors and Godzilla. He was equally prolific during the 1980s on Nick Fury, The ’Nam and G.I. Joe; the 1990s saw him illustrate Marvel’s First Family on Fantastic Four Unlimited. Trimpe’s war-story credits also include the introduction of the Phantom Eagle, the WWI aviator hero whose adventures were later chronicled by Garth Ennis.

After early assignments on Kickers Inc. and Cloak and Dagger, Terry Kavanagh wrote Web of Spider-Man for years — spinning a hero he introduced in those pages, Nightwatch, into his own title. In addition to runs on Marc Spector: Moon Knight, X-Man and various mutant titles, he wrote Avengers, Iron Man and several tie-in one-shots during the controversial “Crossing” storyline. His miniseries work includes Before the Fantastic Four: The Storms, Fury/Agent 13, Black Cat and Rise of Apocalypse. He teamed Marvel heroes with UItraverse heroes in Exiles vs. X-Men and Ultraforce/Avengers Prelude. He further contributed such short-lived but unique series as Electric Warrior, Lords of the Ultra-Realm, Slash Maraud, Wanderers and Xenobrood.Versatile artist James Fry proved himself equally at home illustrating the grim-and-gritty ’90s vigilantism of Moon Knight and Nomad as he was the cartoonish adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog — so it’s little wonder he was chosen to depict a character that combines the two extremes, in Marvel’s Slapstick limited series.Stephen Platt’s work bringing the Marc Spector: Moon Knight series to a close helped propel him to stardom in the artist-fueled comics boom of the 1990s. Platt rode the wave of success to Image Comics, illustrating Rob Liefeld’s Prophet series and his creator-owned series Soul Saga. He went on to become a sought-after concept artist, working on film projects including Blade: Trinity and Marvel Studios’ Iron Man.

Writer J. Michael Straczynski made pop-culture history with the epic TV series Babylon 5. In 1999, Straczynski penned Top Cow’s Rising Stars, leading to an offer from Marvel to write Amazing Spider-Man, a title he revolutionized. “JMS†went on to write Supreme Power, Fantastic Four, Bullet Points, The Twelve and a fan-favorite revival of Thor. The latter helped inspire Marvel’s Thor feature film, on which he shares a writing credit. JMS’ screenplay for Changeling was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Angelina Jolie, while his other movie credits include Underworld: Awakening and World War Z. For DC Comics, he has written iconic characters Superman and Wonder Woman.Peter David is one of the industry’s most prolific and versatile writers whose record-breaking stint on Incredible Hulk remains a fan-favorite to this day. A longtime Marvel fan, Hudlin jumped at the opportunity to write Black Panther, as well as a run on Marvel Knights Spider-Man.Artist Mike Deodato Jr. was already a renowned illustrator in his native Brazil when he got his big break in American comics in 1994, illustrating DC’s Wonder Woman. For Marvel, he drew such series as Avengers, Elektra, Spider-Man and Incredible Hulk. After refining his inimitable style on the creator-owned Jade Warriors, he returned to Marvel for a second turn on Incredible Hulk, with writer Bruce Jones, and a stint on J. Michael Straczynski’s Amazing Spider-Man. Deodato has forged an association with the Avengers on various titles — including collaborations with Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker and Jonathan Hickman — and demonstrated his superstar status on the event book Original Sin. Deodato joined writer Jeff Lemire in exploring one of Marvel's greatest villains in Thanos. The late Mike Wieringo established himself as one of the leading artists in the comic-book industry with his work with writer Mark Waid on DC’s Flash during a run that included the debut of Impulse. Wieringo’s continued collaboration with Waid brought him to Fantastic Four in 2002; the pair kicked off their tenure with a history-making nine-cent first issue. Wieringo’s ability to translate dynamic action to the comic-book page made him uniquely suited to launch Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in 2005 with writer Peter David.Pat Lee is best known for bringing the look and feel of Japanese anime to American comics. Award-winning comic-book creator Brian Michael Bendis is one of the most successful writers in the industry today. In addition to an acclaimed run on Daredevil, he has helmed a renaissance for Marvel’s popular Avengers franchise and written the event projects House of M, Secret War, Secret Invasion, Siege, Age of Ultron and Civil War II. Bendis wrote every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man from its launch in 2000 before bringing his multiracial Spider-Man, Miles Morales, to the Marvel Universe for continuing adventures. He took on Marvel’s mutants in the pages of All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, and launched Guardians of the Galaxy into the stratosphere. Bendis shook up the life of Tony Stark in Invincible Iron Man and related titles, introducing Riri Williams as Ironheart, and then assembled street-level heroes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and his co-creation Jessica Jones in Defenders. His creator-owned projects include Scarlet with Alex Maleev, Brilliant with Mark Bagley, and Takio and the Eisner Award-winning Powers with Michael Avon Oeming.Artist Michael Gaydos honed his craft at the Cleveland Institute of Art — going on to become an accomplished illustrator, painter and printmaker. Gaydos first collaborated with writer Brian Michael Bendis on the crime-noir series Jinx, followed by their critically acclaimed partnership on Alias for Marvel Comics. Gaydos’ work has been published by DC, Image, Tundra, NBM, Caliber and White Wolf — highlighted by turns on the famed anthology Negative Burn, The Crow and the original graphic novel Heaven’s War. In 2005, he reunited with Bendis to illustrate a milestone in Jessica Jones’ life: the birth of her baby in the pages of The Pulse.David Mack submitted his first Kabuki collection while still in college as his senior writing thesis. (He got an A on the project.) Combining innovative storytelling, painting techniques and page design, Mack has won nearly every major comic-industry award, including the prestigious Eisner Award for Best Painter, and garnered praise from such luminaries as Jim Steranko and The Washington Times. Marvel fans first witnessed Mack’s stylings when his covers graced the legendary Daredevil storyline “Parts of a Hole,” which he also wrote. A few years after teaming with then-new Daredevil writer Brian Michael Bendis on the “Wake Up” arc, he returned to the title for the “Echo: Vision Quest” storyline, which reintroduced readers to the unique character he created in “Parts of a Hole.” Mack continues to write and illustrate his creator-owned series, New York Times Best Seller Kabuki, now published by Marvel’s Icon imprint, and has been nominated for several Eisner, Kirby and Harvey awards. He is also serving as the visual designer and co-producer on the forthcoming Kabuki feature film. Mack wrote the adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Ant for Marvel, and was nominated for a Writers Guild Award and a Producers Guild Award for his work on Showtime’s Dexter.

Writer/artist Larry Hama got his start as a penciler before becoming a respected editor and later a writer during the ’80s with his career-defining work on G.I. Joe and a memorable run on Wolverine. Through the years, Hama proved his versatility writing Avengers, Blaze, Elektra, Generation X, The Punisher: War Zone and multiple Venom miniseries. When Devil’s Due, IDW and Image Comics in turn obtained the G.I. Joe license, Hama revisited his iconic Marvel run, continuing where he had left off years earlier and bringing the series to — and past — a record-breaking three hundred issues. At Continuity Comics, he created Bucky O’Hare, launching a franchise that extended to animation, video games and a toy line. Hama recently revisited his era helming the adventures of Logan with the Wolverine: Patch limited series. After an artistic apprenticeship under famed father Joe Kubert, Andy Kubert got his start on DC’s space-opera variations Adam Strange and Warlord, as well as the best-selling crossover Batman vs. Predator in collaboration with brother Adam. Kubert’s Marvel career began with a six-year stint on X-Men — continuing into Thor, Ka-Zar, Ghost Rider and others. He collaborated with Orson Scott Card on Ultimate Iron Man, Neil Gaiman on Marvel 1602 and Paul Jenkins on Wolverine: Origin.Industry giant Marc Silvestri entered the upper echelon of comics innovators in the late ’80s during fan-favorite, record-breaking runs on Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine. They strive to hold their nation together — no matter how much they want to tear each other apart! And Kieron Gillen is here to bring you inside the room where it all happens! As Magneto leaves the Council, his big shoes need to be filled. Selene demonstrating her foot size by crushing the whole island beneath it is unorthodox yet compelling. Can the Quiet Council resist? And after years of scheming, Sinister’s plans come to fruition beyond his wildest dreams — and his darkest nightmares! An award-winning critic and journalist, Kieron Gillen turned his attention to comics on titles including the critically lauded Phonogram with frequent creative partner Jamie McKelvie — as well as Thor, S.W.O.R.D. and Generation Hope. Gillen relaunched two longstanding Marvel series in Uncanny X-Men and Journey into Mystery before again teaming with McKelvie for an acclaimed take on Young Avengers. Gillen wrote Iron Man for Marvel NOW! — and he explored the galaxy far, far away in the pages of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra and Star Wars. Gillen returned to Marvel with thoughtful runs on Immortal X-Men and Eternals.Paco Medina has illustrated a range of Marvel Comics — including New X-Men: Academy X, Captain Marvel, Thor, Venom, Marvel Team-Up, New Mutants and New Warriors, as well as relaunches of Deadpool and X-Men. Firmly established as a Marvel mainstay, Medina has enjoyed lengthy runs on Ultimate Comics X-Men, Nova and Legendary Star-Lord, as well as a major role in the Avengers storyline “No Surrender.”
