esempio: @author Stan Lee
esempio: @artist John Romita
Jr.
@cover copertinista: cerca solo articoli di questo
copertinista. Per esempio: @cover Alex
Ross
@artista, @editore, @titolo (mentre @cover rimane uguale!)
grammaticalmente simili (Man/Men ad esempio).
articoli presentanti negli ultimi 30 / 90 giorni mentre @mese a quelli
presentati nel mese in corso e @YEAR all'ultimo anno (inteso come "gli
ultimi 365 giorni).
codice a barre.
Who’s got the sweetest disposition? Not Donald—but that’s why we love him! Over the decades, Duckburg’s feistiest fowl transformed from a gawky, goosey figure into one of comics’ most emotive, visually streamlined stars. Now Fantagraphics invites you to trace this evolution artist by artist, with all of Donald’s greatest in attendance! Al Taliaferro brings us a 1934 comics adaptation of Donald’s first screen role in “The Wise Little Hen!” Beloved “Duck Man” Carl Barks sends Donald to the circus in our 1950s title tale, “Big-Top Bedlam,” then goes on to pit him against witches, Uncle Scrooge—and himself! Don Rosa’s Donald tackles Neighbor Jones on Halloween in “Fit to Be Pied”; then Freddy Milton combines Ducks with dragons in “The Big Sneeze”! Each epic tale comes with new commentary by Disney historians Jim Fanning, David Gerstein, and Simone Cavazzuti, an interview with modern Duck designer Paco Rodriguez—and the inside scoop on every makeover Donald has received. THE FIRST GRAPHIC NOVEL FROM A MASTER OF THE FORM, CO-STARRING HIS BELOVED 'FRANK' CHARACTER For over 20 years now, Jim Woodring has delighted, touched, and puzzled readers around the world with his lush, wordless tales of 'Frank.' Weathercraft is Woodring's first full-length graphic novel set in this world-indeed, Woodring's first graphic novel, period!-and it features the same hypnotically gorgeous linework and mystical iconography. As it happens, Frank has only a brief supporting appearance in Weathercraft, which actually stars Manhog, Woodring's pathetic, brutish everyman (or everyhog), who had previously made several appearances in 'Frank' stories (as well as a stunning solo turn in the short story 'Gentlemanhog'). After enduring 32 pages of almost incomprehensible suffering, Manhog embarks upon a transformative journey and attains enlightenment. He wants to go to celestial realms but instead altruistically returns to the Unifactor to undo a wrong he has inadvertently brought about: The transformation of the evil politician Whim into a mind-destroying plant-demon who distorts and enslaves Frank and his friends. The new and metaphysically expanded Manhog sets out for a final battle with Whim... Weathercraft also co-stars Frank's cast of beloved supporting characters, including Frank's Faux Pa and the diminutive, mailbox-like Pupshaw and Pushpaw; it is both a fully independent story that is a great introduction to Woodring's world, and a sublime addition to, and extension of, the Frank stories. Weathercraft will be a defining graphic novel of 2010. (immagine) Categoria: Books: graphic novels

45 years after his first political cartoons focused on capitalism’s impact, Peter Kuper takes stock of the state of the world… and isn’t optimistic about what he sees. Across 100 pages of vivid, colorful, silent four-panel comics, Kuper traces as many aspects of how business and politics have accelerated the climate crisis, and looks at how, if things keep going in the direction they are, our oligarchic lives will be further transformed. Witty and angry in equal measure, Kuper deploys bold figures, clever metaphors, despairing howls, and some of the best drawings of his career to get his message across. Originally serialized in the legendary French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, each page is a single blackly funny gag strip, but themes flow, recur and build across sequences to create a true hybrid of political cartoon and graphic novel. Since co-founding the influential political comics magazine World War III Illustrated in 1979, Kuper has maintained his deeply humanist / anti-capitalist perspective, while developing and broadening his graphic and story-telling skills across a range of topics and styles. In this book, he brings all of that experience, study and passion together into a powerful work that stands as a culmination of his career. See the future now, and laugh hollowly while you still can. Harvey Kurtzman changed the face of American humor when he created the legendary MAD comic. As editor and chief writer from its inception in 1952, through its transformation into a slick magazine, and until he left MAD in 1956, he influenced an entire generation of cartoonists, comedians, and filmmakers. In 1962, he co-created the long-running Little Annie Fanny with his long-time artistic partner Will Elder for Playboy, which he continued to produce until his virtual retirement in 1988. Between MAD and Annie Fanny, Kurtzman's biographical summaries will note that he created and edited three other magazines, Trump, Humbug, and Help!, but, whereas his MAD and Annie Fanny are readily available in reprint form, his major satirical work in the interim period is virtually unknown. Humbug, which had poor distribution, may be the least known, but to those who treasure the rare original copies, it equals or even exceeds MAD in displaying Kurtzman's creative genius. Humbug was unique in that it was actually published by the artists who created it: Kurtzman and his cohorts from MAD Will Elder, Jack Davis, and Al Jaffee, were joined by universally acclaimed cartoonist Arnold Roth. With no publisher above them to rein them in, this little band of creators produced some of the most trenchant and engaging satire of American culture ever to appear on American newsstands. At last, the entire run of 11 issues of Humbug is being reprinted in a deluxe format, much of it reproduced from the original art, allowing even owners of the original cheaply-printed issues to see the full impact of these creators' artistry for the first time.
